Classical Ballet - Advanced Allegro 46 - 52

For ages 13 and older, and as a daily lesson plan of selected allegro combinations for mature male and female ballet dancers.

For the young teen expect 3 years to master the technique. The introduction to the advanced syllabi is here.

If possible, now is the time to have a piano accompanist for classes, for the flexibility live music can lend to the moment's need in teaching.

Advanced Allegro 46 - 52

46. Demi contretemps, assemblé élancé
preparation: face 5, 5th position RF front
A. one demi contretemps right arms low, head and shoulders left
B. face corner 2, arms and head écarté, assemblé to corner 1
repeat A. and B. across to corner 1
repeat to left from corner 4 to corner 2

47. Assemblé, simple temps levé, assemblé coupé, grand temps levé en attitude
preparation: face 5, 5th position LF front, arms low
A. 1 assemblé dessus, using head and shoulders,
arms open slightly, face corner 2
B. 1 simple temps levé on front foot arms low
C. 1 assemblé coupé to close feet in 5th position, arms low
D. 1 grand temps levé en attitude to corner 2, back arm up -
from attitude go into assemblé dessus
with LF to face corner 1 and continue through D.

48. Posé assemblé, temps levé en attitude
preparation: face corner 1, 5th position, RF front, arms low
A. ct & - step to ccorner 1, arms open to seconde
B. ct 1 - assemblé LF 5th position front,
head leans to back foot and slightly fwd,
arms come down in 5th position en bas
C. ct &2 - spring up to attitude on RF, L leg en attitude facing corner 2,
L arm en attitude, R arm seconde, head looks up to left palm
repeat to left

49. Grand fouetté
preparation: face 8, 5th position, LF front
A. step fwd on LF, arms seconde
B. swing R leg devant, arms down and up over head as
C. turning to 6 on supporting leg, R leg in arabesque
D. step through on RF and repeat to 6
later - combine A. & B. on one count

50. Fouetté Turns
preparation: face 8, 5th position, RF front,
arms 5th en avant then seconde;
R leg developpé devant en l'air; spot wall 8 throughout
A. ct & - circle RL to seconde and while turning endehor, bend R knee,
beat R pointed foot back of knee, front of knee,
and finish by stretching R leg again a là devant en l'air;
supporting foot raises to demi pointe
(or springs to pointe) for each turn
Repeat all with L leg front 5th
Note: you'll see groups of 16 or 32 fouette turns in many ballets

51. Temps levé en avant en 2nd arabesque, grand fouetté
preparation: face 5, 5th position, RF front
A. temps levé in 2nd arabesque
B. 3 steps back facing 5
C. turn face 7, swing R leg en avant, arms overhead, and
D. immediately turn around to 5, extended leg in arabesque
repeat all with emps levé on LF, head should spot 5 on grand fouetté

52. Demi contretemps, grand fouetté
preparation: face 5, 5th position, RF front
A. demi contretemps on RF, turn and step fwd to 8 with LF
B. swing R leg fwd en avant and turn in grand fouetté to face 6
C. bring R leg down in back of L ankle and demi contretemps
D. step R foot through and swing L leg fwd and turn to grand fouetté to 8
repeat all
