October Paranormal Romances

Hello, and welcome back! I'm reading a really great new book to share with you all next week, but in the meantime, I have four more new books, all available now.

Love Came Just in Time Love Came Just in Time (Berkley) by Lynn Kurland is a collection of four of her previously-published novellas, including The Gift of Christmas Past, The Three Wise Ghosts, And the Groom Wore Tulle, and The Icing on the Cake. The first three all feature paranormal elements to them, while the fourth is set in the present. If you've been waiting for reissues of some of her old stories, now's your chance to pick them up.

Courting Midnight Courting Midnight (Berkley) by Emma Holly has the latest of her upyr, Lucius taking on the identity of the dying man he saved from wintry weather. Living as a human is far different for him than his existence of the last centuries, and Theo Becket is a real temptation. But she has her own family issues to deal with, so finding a husband isn't high on her list. Fans of the series have, no doubt, been waiting impatiently for this latest volume. It's not a keeper for me, however. I don't find either of them the least bit sympathetic, and there are far too many sub-plots going on in this one for me.

Only with a Highlander Only with a Highlander (Pocket Star) by Janet Chapman has her latest time-traveling Scots. Winter MacKeage can't help but wonder about the hunk in her art gallery. Matt Gregor has his reasons for coming to Pine Creek, Maine, and the attraction between them can only distract him. Again, there are so many secondary characters here that new readers will be unfamiliar with, and, despite my two favorite places in the world as setting, I just can't like this series. I know other readers feel differently, though, so enjoy.

Private Demon: A Novel of the Darkyn Private Demon: A Novel of the Darkyn (Signet Eclipse) by Lynn Viehl finishes things up this time out. Remember Thierry Durand, the vampire who had the break-down after the betrayal of his beloved wife in the first book in this series? He's back, insane and all, and Jem Shaw crosses his path. If you loved the first book, no doubt you'll rush out and grab this one, too. Me, well, I hold out hope that Ms. Viehl writes a few more of her Jessica Hall books soon. I'll pass on the vampires, I'm afraid.

Until next time, happy reading!
