On CBS's Survivor Guatemala, I was excited to learn there is an ex-NFL player in the tribe this season. Gary Hogeboom played 11 years in the NFL with his longest stint (6yrs) as a Dallas Cowboy. He has been trying to hide that he was a pro athlete by telling everyone he is a landscaper. He is a one now that he has retired.
In the last few weeks, the sports reporter Danni on the other tribe has realized who Gary is. She has told his tribe mates. They have been questioning him about whether he is an ex-NFLer or not. So should he come clean about it? I think he is safest if he lies about it. I think he has started the lie, so he needs to keep it up. I would not have told them in the beginning either. On one of the commercials, one of his tribe mates said she is going to be mad if she finds out he is a multimillionaire. He would have had a target on him from the start.
Does a pro athlete have an unfair advantage on Survivor? I don't think so. I think on Survivor a person not only has to have strength, but smarts. They also have to be friends with people until the end. Then they stab each other in the back for the cash. The person I am rooting for never wins, so I am not rooting for Gary. Without me on his side, he has a great shot at winning.
Check out Gary and his tribe mates on Thursday nights on CBS at 8 pm.
