Great Hair on a Budget - Haircolor and Condition

Great Hair Color on a Budget
If you want great hair color, it is always safest to have your hair tinted in a salon, by a professional, but you can save money by minimizing the frequency of visits.

Semi-permanent hair color will be intense when first applied and will gradually fade away in about six to ten weeks, so you won’t have obvious ‘roots’ and won’t need to go back for a touch-up until you want to. One drawback – Semi- or Demi- Permanent Hair color will only add color or darken. It will not lighten your hair.

If you prefer lighter hair, highlights may be the answer. If they are added in a medium to light manner (meaning more natural hair than highlighted hair) and are only two or three shades lighter than your natural shade, they brighten and lighten the overall color of your hair while not causing a line of obvious outgrowth. They will grow out gracefully until you want to have it redone. The roots won’t show.

Shampoo and conditioner:
Make your shampoo and conditioner last longer just by the way you use it. Pour a dime to nickel size amount in your hand. Emulsify it very well by rubbing your palms together. Then pat your hair in different areas to distribute the shampoo. Gently massage your scalp and hair until a lather appears and continue until your entire scalp and all of your hair has been thoroughly cleaned. Shampoo only once. Most of us shampoo our hair at least every two days. It will rarely need more that one shampoo.

Don’t skimp on quality :
If you have color treated hair, don’t use cheap shampoo and conditioner. Many less expensive shampoos can fade your hair color and dry out your hair. Use shampoo designated for color treated hair, preferably professional quality.
Even if you don’t tint or use other chemicals on your hair, use the best quality shampoo that you can afford.

Many professional brands run yearly specials on liter sized shampoo and conditioner at big savings to the consumer. This will give you a year’s worth of hair care for little money.
