Iron Man is one of the surprises I had for 2008. I wasn’t expecting much, since I didn’t know the story line, but was I taken aback? You bet! What can I say? It grabbed my attention right from the start, and kept me mesmerized. I have always liked Robert Downey Jr. but now I am a true fan. Apparently, this was what they called a “come back film,” for Mr. Downey, and come back he did. With Mr. Downey’s quick wit, and uncanny sense of humor, his character Tony Stark is truly believable and he really makes this movie come together. The story line is excellent, the special effects are awesome, and the humor is right where it needs to be.
Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, played by Terrence Howard, is a true friend to Mr. Stark. Together they make an unbeatable combination with Mr. Stark's fly-by-the-seat-of-your pants character and Col. Rhodes being the type of friend one can truly rely upon. Rich, good looking, and super smart, Mr. Stark rules the world from the palm of his hand.
With a guilty conscience that stems from the weapons of mass destruction that his company manufactures, he acquires a need to save the world to make his life complete. Even though the Iron Man originated as a way of escape from a group of freedom fighters in the Middle East, it soon becomes his reason for living. As good, as this is I still found a few mistakes.
When Tony is at the computer called Jarvis, voice played by Jude Law, designing the Iron Man suite, he has a coffee cup sitting to his left upside down. A few seconds later, he picks the cup and takes a drink.
When Tony goes to the benefit, we see him driving up to the entrance. Just before he gets to the very front, we can see that he does not have a front license plate. When he gets to the front entrance and stops, we see again that in fact, he does have one and it says “Stark” on the plate.
After Tony escapes from the freedom fighters and lands in the desert, he struggles to get to civilization. As he is running along, it shows Tony holding his arm and it appears to be wounded. In the next scene, he is holding the opposite arm. As the plane comes into view overhead, he is holding his other arm again.
These are a few of the mistakes I have found, not many, and they certainly don’t take away from this movie. If you get a chance to see Iron Man please do, it is an awesome movie and well worth it. It is definitely one that I will be watching over and over again.
