Pass the Popcorn is a movie trivia game that takes very little space to play since you do not use a board. Players play on every turn to guess the right movie. Be fast and right to win this game.
There are actually two ways you can play Pass the Popcorn and instructions are included for both versions. The Movie Game is played by guessing the movie title while Star Connection is more of a card game.
Pass the Popcorn consists of 32 game tiles and 125 double-sided movie cards. Place the 32 game tiles in the center of the playing area face down. All players draw two game tiles placing them face up in front of them. Players take turn passing the popcorn - the box with the movie cards. When you are passed the popcorn, you are the reader of the movie clue. The player to your left goes first once you have read the year of the movie and genre. He decides which clue he wants to hear next. He may also switch game tiles with another player.
The game tiles determine what part of the movie clue will be read. For example, if he chooses a cast tile, then everyone will hear the movie casting details. If a person guesses the right movie and has a quote game tile, then she can turn it face-down. The first player to turn over all of their game tiles wins the game.
In Star Connection, players use the 75 cards with the Pass the Popcorn logo on the back. The dealer deals seven cards to each player. The dealer turns the card face up on the remaining deck. Players then must look for a matching card from their hand. You are looking for a common connection among the stars. If Brad Pitt is the current star card then you may George Clooney in your hand. You can play that card and say "Ocean's Eleven" - a movie that starred both actors. After three rounds, you want to be the player with the lowest amount of points - so get rid of as many of your cards as you can.
Pass the Popcorn is great for those who love trivia games and have seen a lot of movies - although most movies in this game are fairly well-known. Still it can be challenging to guess a movie when you have very little information. This would make for a fun game for a family get together or a party.
