Up

Carl and Ellie meet as young children with an unending sense of adventure. The pair fall in love and eventually marry, spending years saving for an adventure to South America. But when Ellie falls ill and dies, Carl finds himself alone with the continuing pressure to sell their home and move into a retirement center. But Carl has one more adventure left in him and for Russell, who is unwittingly brought along for the ride of a lifetime. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching the animated favorite “Up”.

· After Ellie dies, Carl wakes up at home, goes about his daily routine and is about to go outside. The close-up view of the closed door shows four locks above the door handle. When he steps out on the porch and closes the door behind him, there are only three locks above the door knob.

· In the first scenes of the house taking off, the front porch is empty. It’s still empty when the house is gliding through the air (noticeably when it passes over the weather vane and power lines). But a few moments later, Russell knocks on the door, from the front porch!

· When the house starts to skid on the rocks, Carl and his cane get tossed from the porch. Carl lands on the ground (head at the top of the screen, feet towards the bottom) and his cane lands parallel (handle at the top, tennis balls at the bottom) next to him. As the house passes over and he yells “Wait!”, the cane is facing a different direction. It’s now perpendicular to him with the handle facing towards him and the tennis balls pointed away from him.

· As Russell is building a tent in the jungle, he walks over to Carl and says “All done! That’s for you!”. There is a red mark that runs from his left eye and down his face. After the tent gets thrown, it shows Russell again and the red mark is gone.

“Up” (2009) features the voices of Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, Jordan Nagal and John Ratzenberger. It runs 96 minutes and is rated PG for some peril and action.
