Holiday dinners dont have to be complicated. When cooking for a large group of extended family and friends, keeping it simple means keeping your sanity!
Here are two simple and delicious recipes that are sure to be favorites for kids and adults alike.
Brown Sugar Glazed Ham
Ingredients:
1 fully cooked, bone in ham
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of maple syrup
2 tablespoons of creamy Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
2. Spray a roasting pan with a non stick cooking spray.
3. Place ham in the pan, and add Ύ cup of water.
4. Cover tightly with foil.
5. Follow baking instructions on package (usually fifteen minutes per
pound for a fully cooked ham).
6. While the ham bakes, make the brown sugar glaze, which will be poured over your ham during the last fifteen minutes of cooking.
7. Combine brown sugar, mustard, and cinnamon in a sauce pan.
8. Stir well, and heat over medium heat for two minutes.
9. Remove the ham from the oven when there are fifteen minutes remaining.
10. Pour brown sugar glaze over the ham.
11. Turn up oven temperature to 400 degrees.
12. Place ham back in oven, uncovered for fifteen minutes.
Sweet Potato Casserole
Ingredients:
Five to Six sweet potatoes
2 Tablespoons of butter
2 Tablespoons of sugar
2/3 cup of milk
1 bag of miniature marshmallows
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Bake the sweet potatoes in your oven or microwave.
3. Gently slice open the sweet potatoes. Scoop out potato mixture into a
large bowl.
4. Add butter, milk, and cinnamon, Mix well.
5. Spray a casserole dish with a non stick cooking spray.
6. Spread potato mixture in the dish.
7. Bake for thirty minutes.
8. Top with marshmallows and bake for an additional fifteen minutes.
Leftover ham ideas:
Make ham sandwiches for school work or home.
Add leftover ham and some shredded cheddar cheese to scrambled eggs
for a nice change of pace.
