Elf

Buddy is just like every other Elf working for Santa Claus and living at the North Pole, except for one thing! Buddy really isn't an elf! Noticeably different than those around him, Buddy finds out that his long lost father lives far away in New York City. He quickly decides to make the long trip to the city to find him. Trying to fit in with his new found family and bring a bit of holiday cheer to them, Buddy soon realizes that the big city isn’t quite the same as the North Pole. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Elf”.

• At the very beginning of the movie, Buddy is a baby. A nun puts him in his crib on Christmas Eve. She pulls the blanket over the baby’s chest. In the next view of Buddy, the blanket is pulled down far enough to see the baby’s diaper. The blanket is back in its original position in the next side view of Buddy.

• Buddy runs in and interrupts a meeting that Walter and Miles are having. After they trade a few comments, a fight erupts between Miles and Buddy. At one point, Buddy gets thrown against the wall during the mayhem. One of the three pictures on the wall (on the left of the screen) crashes to the floor. But as Miles is walking away, the background shows that the three pictures are back on the wall!

• Buddy makes breakfast for Emily one morning. She sits down to eat and picks up her fork, leaving the knife on the table next to her plate. When Emily asks Buddy if he slept alright, the knife is on her plate. The knife is back in its original positions when Emily says “You actually made that?”.

• Buddy and Michael are attacked with snowballs in the park and a fight ensues. Buddy and Michael run towards the bridge and two boys can be seen standing on it. When it cuts to a close-up of the boys on the bridge, there are three.

“Elf” (2003) stars Will Ferrell, James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, Ed Asner, Peter Dinklage and Daniel Tay. It runs 97 minutes and is rated PG for mild rude humor and language.
