Gratitude Poetry

BE THANKFUL

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

I AM THANKFUL THAT...

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings,
I am thankful that I can hear.

There are many who are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible,
I am thankful that I can see.

Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising,
I am thankful that I have the strength to rise.

There are many who are bedridden.

Even though I grumble at the dresses I wear,
I am thankful for the collection of dresses I have.

There are many who don't have an alternate dress to wear.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost,
toast is burned, tempers are short, my children are so loud,
I am thankful for my family.

There are many who are lonely.

Even though my face doesn't look so good like the pictures in the Fashion Magazine,
I am thankful that I have all my features in my face complete.

There are many who cannot see, hear and talk.

Even though I walk to my work place,
I am thankful that I have the strength to walk.

There are many who cannot walk.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced,
I am thankful for the food we have.

There are many who are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job is often monotonous,
I am thankful for the opportunity to work.

There are many who have no job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day
and wish my circumstances were not so modest,
I am thankful for life.
