Unfaithfully Yours Book Review

Valerie Johnson and Athena are two very different women. Or are they? Valerie is a business executive who married her high school sweetheart, Stanley. Fifteen years later, they have two kids and live in the suburbs, wondering where the time has gone. Athena is the hottest pop diva in the world, successful and independent. Fifteen years later, she is lonely at the top, wondering why she did not marry her truelove, Brad. Things get interesting when Brad makes a Jay Gatsby return and a case of mistaken identify brings Stanley and Athena together for a midnight rendezvous. In the end, love has the last laugh.

I started this book 3 times. Normally I would have given up on it but I started reading reviews of other readers and decided to give it one more go. The format of the book is what kept me from reading it. This book is a novel but reminded me of a screenplay and I do not like to read plays. Even in school reading The Glass Menagerie and The Crucible distracted me from the meaning of the stories.

I really idendified with Valerie from the beginning. Valerie struggles with being a working mom and not feeling close to her family. We get to see Athena off stage and how I envision most pop female stars to be.

This novel is a short, quick read. I read it in about 2 hours. The story sucks you in once you get into the minds of the characters. Although it is slightly predictable, I recommend this for when you have a few hours to kill on the weekend and looking for a short adventure.
