I recently saw Rosie O'Donnell being interviewed by James Lipton on Inside the Actor's Studio. A mature Rosie laid out the details of her childhood and career. She wasn't trying to be the funny girl from her The Rosie O'Donnell Show days or the actress from the many movies she's starred in. This humble woman who's rubbed elbows with the likes of Madonna, Tom Cruise and Barbara Streisand was still charming. I don't think Rosie could be anything but (despite what a selected few would like to believe. Please don't email me about it.)
Anyway, one of the things she talked candidly about was money. Specifically how she has all the money she could ever need and will never have to worry about it. She wasn't bragging. Just matter-of fact. Which brings me to her blog. A labour of love that has been a huge sensation since she started it, gaining in traffic and verbal appeal. One thing you can say about Rosie, she isn't verbose, at least in cyberspace. Her blog written in somewhat poetic form, often without capitals and punctuation, details events from her daily life with her partner, kids, politics, work and other interests.
Similar to her day time talk show, Rosie isn't afraid to promote her friends or other products she deems worthy. Today she introduced the r store. These products are supposedly hand picked by the comedian/actress/entrepreneur/ artist/mother herself. There's gear for babies, kids and adults as well as a few toys for the same categories. Along with picking the products Rosie is also said to have written the descriptions.
The online store is bright, cheery, easy to maneuver and has lots of great photos. There is one section called Big Girls with generous cut t-shirts up to size 3x, and a vintage Rosie jacket and sweatshirt sized up to 6x. But more importantly than all this, all profits go to Rosie's For Kids Foundation and Rosie's Broadway Kids as designated by the cutesy heart on each item's webpage. Not a surprise for this successful plus size woman who is known for having a big heart for her fellow man, woman and most especially child.
