Ranch dressing is traditionally a blend of buttermilk and mayonnaise. However, over the years ranch dressings have evolved so they can sit on a shelf for years. this current Kraft Ranch has as its starting ingredients: soybean oil, water, vinegar, sugar, egg yolks, skim milk, bacon bits. Since there are hardly any bacon bits in this at all, you get a sense that this blend is primarily oil and water.
Still, it is fairly tasty. The aim of a salad dressing is not to have tons of nutrients (this has pretty much none) or tons of ingredients. The salad dressing should really just be "wet" to give a better texture to the salad as a whole. The Kraft Ranch does that task nicely. It has a good flavor, mild, that highlights but does not overwhelm the salad you have chosen.
The pop-top squeeze bottle is easy to hold and easy to pour out in controllable quantities. It is a bit of a pain to put upside-down in the fridge to get the last bits of ranch dressing out of the bottle. They really should give all dressings a well balanced bottle so you can store them upside-down near the end of their life so you don't waste the last bits.
In terms of other nutrition, for the 2 Tbsp serving (16 per bottle) you have 150 calories, 16g of fat (2.5 saturated, 0g trans fats). There is 10mg cholesterol, 300mg of sodium and less than 1g of protein. there are no other nutrients.
People allergic to soy should of course realize that the #1 ingredient in here is soybean oil. This thing is chock full of soy. There are of course milk and egg products in here since those are the prime components of any ranch dressing.
Well recommended! Ranch dressing is a great way to ensure you get a daily salad into you. I highly suggest you keep a number of dressings in your fridge - ranch, Italian, oil-and-vinegar, etc - so you can mix them up day by day. That way every salad stays delicious and interesting to you!
