No matter what you call it, people who spend a lot of time keyboarding experience wrist pain.
A recent study released by Harvard Medical School found that carpal tunnel syndrome is not caused by long hours of keyboarding, but rather heredity, body weight, fracture and/or pregnancy. This finding, in my opinion, is, for the purposes of being able to compute pain-free, just semantic. People are still hurting!!
As I mentioned in my Computer Related Injuries article, carpal tunnel syndrome falls into a category called repetitive strain injury (RSI). It is repetitive strain injury that most computer users are feeling when they have wrist pain.
What to do About the Pain?
Here are a few people oriented resources you may want to check out if you have wrist pain due to long hours at the computer:
Work Rave Software is a free download that tracks your keystrokes and instructs you take breaks when you need them.
The Forum at BetaNews discusses the Harvard finding in a constructive way. Some of the posters are researchers offering further related information. Others are living proof that the terminology does not matter as much as the cure. Still others offer what works for them (including the Work Rave Software - see above).
There are also some excellent books on the subject:
