101 eBay Tips, plus product sourcing

Some people say online sales will take a dip after the holiday season,
but we want to show you how you can help stay ahead of the decline
by showing you where to get your copy of Entrepreneur's "101 Tips
For Starting and Growing Your Business On eBay" You can get it
online at the following link

Product sourcing can be a tricky thing, and many eBay sellers get sucked into all those sites advertising "Drop-ship", "Wholesale", "Below Wholesale", "70% off retail", and so many more. I'm sure you've seen them too. The sites that promise you easy profits with their products, and then after you join you search their entire database for products to sell on eBay only to find the other sellers are selling at the same price you can purchase them for at your new found wholesale source.

You don't have to settle for these middle man sites that promise you easy money, instead you need to get as close to the source of your product as possible. This requires that you start as close to the manufacturer as possible, so why not start with the manufacturer. Chances are you won't be able to purchase products directly from the manufacturer but you should be able to ask them for a list of their authorized distributors.

Once you get to the distributor level you may or may not be able to buy from them, it will depend on the volume of products you intend on selling, you can always ask the distributor to give you a trial run to see of you can meet their volume.

If you find you can't buy from the distributors don't worry too much, the next step in the sales channel is the wholesalers and the distributors will give you the names of their wholesale accounts.

So how do you find the manufacturers you may wonder ???

You will be surprised at how many manufacturers you may have in your own area, and to check I use a handy site http://www.yellowpages.com

Start by typing in the letters .... mfrs .... select the zip code and state you are searching on (leave the radio button checked on it's default of business category) and hit the "go" button. You should see a listing of companies that classify themselves as "manufacturers" (mfrs for short)

The next thing you can try is typing in the letters .... whol .... follow the sales steps as above and you will find listings for wholesale companies.

If you find there are not many listings you may have to try different zip codes.
