Create these curls by pulling a small strand of hair into position (where you want your curl) and pinning it at the base. Smooth the strand and curl the ends over with a curling iron. You may need to pin the ends into place or a firm hold hairspray may hold them. Secure the ends with by directly spraying them with hair spray. If you use bobby pins, hide the pins inside the curl.
The straight bangs are a personal choice of the model. The contrast with the curls is attractive. This up do has added interest created by crisscrossing strands of hair and by four small braids in the back. To get this look, section off an area of hair at the bottom back. Create the updo. When it is finished, divide the area into three sections. Divide the center section into two. Take one section and divide it into three strands. Braid the strands and secure the ends with a tiny elastic band. Repeat the process in the other section. Cross the two braids and pull them up into the updo, hiding the ends under the curls. Finally, braid the hair in each of the side back sections and pull up each braid, securing it under the curls.
The braids take care of the problem of short hairs that won’t stay up into an updo.
The result is lots of texture accentuated by smooth lines.
