Christmas Vacation

The Griswold family is going to have the best Christmas ever. Despite what the rest of his family may think, that’s what Clark Griswold is determined to make happen. But comedy and chaos run rampant when things go from bad to worst with things running the gamut of faulty lights, crazy in-laws, squirrels in the tree and the jelly of the month club! Here are some mistakes to look for while watching the comedy “Christmas Vacation”.

• At the beginning of the movie, Clark is driving the car with Ellen, Audrey and Rusty in tow. A pick-up truck shows up on the road right behind them. Through most of the scene, there are two people in the truck. When Ellen says to Clark “slow down and let them pass”, there is an exterior view of both vehicles and three people can be seen through the rear window of the truck.

• Clark is trying to get the lights to work outside. Ellen steps outside and puts a pink sweater around her shoulders. During the first close-up of Ellen, the sweater is over her shoulder. In the front views of her and Clark, the sweater is off her shoulder.

• Before Cousin Eddie arrives, Clark is outside of the house trying to get the lights to cut on. When Clark finally gets the lights to work, the scene cuts to the power plant. It then cuts back to a quick overhead view of the house. Eddie’s camper can be seen in the driveway but he hasn’t arrived yet!

• Clark is walking Aunt Bethany to the front door. Rusty and Uncle Lewis are behind them. There are lights that are lit on the wreath on the front door. But when they open the door, the overhead view shows the lights are off.

• The squirrel that was hidden in the Christmas tree is causing havoc in the house. Most of the family runs into the foyer. During the scene, in front views, Catherine’s right arm is holding onto Rusty. But in other views, she’s not touching him.

“Christmas Vacation” (1989) stars Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Juliette Lewis, Johnny Galecki, Randy Quaid, Doris Roberts and Diane Ladd. It runs 97 minutes and is rated PG-13 for language.
