BellaOnline's HTML Editor
|Webmonkey is a strange name for a great website that's been around since 1996. This site is a great resource for novice and professional webmasters. It has everything from quick reference charts to articles and in-depth tutorials. Michael Calore is the current Editor in Chief. |
One of Webmonkey's best features is the navigation menu which makes finding information very easy. First there are three entry levels; Beginners, Builders and Masters. Click on one of these links and you will get a welcome page with a summary of the major topic areas for that section.
The beginner will want to start with the HTML basics tutorial. This is a multi-page in-depth tutorial that covers a lot of information. However a second navigation menu, which is at the left on every page, comes in handy again by providing links to the main parts of the tutorial which allows the reader to find just the part he is looking for. Other major topics at the Beginners level are graphics, web hosting and FTP.
If you are looking for something special and don't know which level to look in, there is also an eight folder navigation tree.
Authoring - HTML, CSS, DHTML, XML
Design - Site building, graphics, fonts
Multimedia - MP3, Flash, video and animation
E-Business - Building, marketing and tracking
Backend - Databases, Unix, security
Quick Reference - Charts and quick answers
If you want to "get there fast" or just keep up with what's new, Webmonkey.com makes that easy with a list of the most recent articles and tutorials on their homepage, a mailing list and a twice weekly newsletter called Elbow Grease. They have also branched out with three special sites called Webmonkey for Kids, Webmonkey Latin America and Webmonkey Japan. Webmonkey is part of the Lycos, Inc. network of websites.
