Lord Of The Rings - Return Of The King

The fate of Middle Earth will finally be determined in “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King”! Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are caught up in the battle at Minas Tirith, while Frodo and Sam continue their treacherous journey to destroy the ring. Here are a few mistakes to look for while watching this third installment of the Peter Jackson trilogy.

· Gandalf has the gazing ball covered with a cloth and under his right arm as he’s sleeping. Pippin has other ideas! He takes the ball and tucks a silver pitcher in Gandalf’s arm. But when he touches the gazing ball, he can’t let go of it and Merry calls for Gandalf to help. The scene cuts to a close-up view of Gandalf and the pitcher is still in his arms. But in the next far view of Gandalf, when he begins to get up, the pitcher is gone.

· Pippin climbs up to the pillar to light the beacon. When he’s climbing the wall, there is an upwards view of the bridge. The guard is closer to the end of the bridge, where the beacon is located. But in the next overhead view, the guard is further down the bridge, closer to the opposite side.

· Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli go to the Army of the Dead to seek their aid. When Aragorn is talking to the ghost king, he is holding the torch in his left hand, his sword is in his right hand and the pin on his cloak is pointing to the right. When the rest of the ghost army shows up, Aragorn turns and the torch is in his rights hand, sword in his left and the pin points left. He turns back towards the king and everything is back in its original position.

· Eowyn is fighting in the battle of Minas Tirith. There is a brown strap buckled under her chin that keeps her helmet on. It’s still there when she’s knocked down by the Witch King. But when she takes the helmet off a few moments later, the strap is no longer there.

· Frodo has been stung by Shelob and is inside a cocoon. After Sam battles Shelob, he uncovers Frodo’s face. There are two close-up views of Frodo with his eyes open. It cuts to a side view, and his eyes are shut. But when it cuts to another close-up of Frodo, his eyes are open again.

· Near the end of the movie, Frodo is finishing his book. At one point he has a black quill in his right hand. In a close-up view, he reaches (with the pen still in his hand) and touches his left shoulder. Sam enters and there is a far view of the two of them. Frodo is still holding his shoulder, but the black quill is gone.

“Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” stars Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, John Rhy-Davies, Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Ian McKellan, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Paul Norell, Miranda Otto and Bernard Hill. It runs 201 minutes and is rated PG-13 for intense epic battle sequences and frightening images.
