Book Review- Earth, Air, Fire & Water


There have been many articles that mention spells, rituals and the elements. The book Earth, Air, Fire, & Water written by Scott Cunningham is an excellent book about natural magic, the elements, spells and rituals. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, this book is full of interesting and useful information. It is a good book for beginners because it is simple to understand and fun to read. The experienced practitioner will receive a refresher course and a valuable resource.

The first section of the book introduces natural magic, techniques and tools. The tools that are highlighted in the book are easy to obtain. The tools would also be valuable to any practitioner. This section also introduces the elements of earth, air, fire, and water. A list of symbols that are associated with each element is also included. Preparing for a ritual is also highlighted in this section. This section is especially important for the beginner.

Elemental magic is the focus of the second section. Each chapter describes a different element and magic that can be performed using the element. There are love spells, blessings, protection spells, divination and more. The spells are well written and easy to understand.

Natural magic is the basis of the third section. Scott Cunningham discusses natural magic using things like stones, magnets and candles. The last chapter is about creating your own rituals. There are lists of reasons that a person might need to cast a spell and the element associated with the reason. He explains what materials to use, symbols, moon cycle, season to perform the spell or ritual and more.

Scott Cunningham has written many books on Wiccan and Pagan topics. His books are well written and easy to understand. His books are ideal for the beginning practitioner to learn. His books are also a great resource to have in your library. You will find yourself using the books as a reference and a guide.

Earth, Air, Fire, & Water is a great resource for the magical practitioner. It is also a good read for people who are curious about natural magic and spell casting. Scott Cunningham shares his experiences and insights with the reader. The reader receives an understanding as to why he is an expert. It is a book that you will refer back to many times in the course of your practice.

Scott Cunningham passed away in 1993 but his legacy lives on in his work.
