The unsigned, experimental rockers that make up the band called The Wides are excited to announce the release of their self-titled, full-length album and I have to admit that Im almost as excited as they are. With their psychedelic rock sound and aggressively heavy, yet harmless tracks, The Wides are, in my opinion, one of the best emerging rock bands in the Atlantic Canada music scene.
The Wides consists of band members Mitch Carree (guitar), Sean Snell (vocals, drum), Justin Crowe (drums, guitar), and Adam LeDrew (guitar, drums, vocals). Although their bassist has since left the group due to musical differences, their rock sound is still clear, consistent and as heavy as ever. The bands most recent recordings and album release can be found on www.thewides.bandcamp.com and each song was recorded by Luke Mumford between the two dates of November 2011 and June 2012.
After watching many of their live shows and listening to their recorded music, I can honestly say that I am a true fan, and this rock band is definitely worth checking out. While listening to their music and attempting to choose a favourite song or a song that simply sticks out specifically to me that I can focus on to write a blurb about, I cant. I truly like every single song that they produce and create and I cannot choose which one is my favourite yes, theyre that good. The self-titled album contains ten songs that contain everything from political references to things they encounter within their lives, as well as anything else the foursome comes up with that flows well together.
Although each of the band members works at a full-time job that is not associated with their music, with their uncanny musical dedication and passion, I can only imagine greater industry success for this emerging rock group.
