Living with ADD

There is an incredible database on the World Wide Web available to everyone, just for the looking. This includes anyone with Attention Deficit Disorder or ADD who is finding a certain area of life hard to manage. If you are having difficulty managing time in your personal or work life, coaches are available, online, on the phone and in person to help you organize your day. Do a simple search on ADD personal or family coaches.

If clutter is difficult for you to conquer try browsing through the FlyLady site created by Maria Cilley. The FlyLady has an awesome program to help cut your clutter and decrease the daily CHAOS, which stands for “Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome.” The FlyLady not only helps you get clutter under control but also teaches you how to manage your time effectively as you tackle large projects to make your home and life manageable and a pleasant place to live.

For parents with children and adults newly diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) there is CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder). CHADD is a nonprofit organization. The mission statement from CHADD includes, “CHADD improves the lives of people affected by AD/HD." There is a wealth of information at CHADD regarding ADD or ADHD.

As a digital photographer and artist, I am completely self-taught. I know only what trial and error has allowed me to learn up until recently when I joined a membership club online called Masterpiece Membership created by Jim Miotke the founder of BetterPhoto.com. In addition to learning from other stellar photographers of all levels, I am able to receive feedback on my personal photography, all under the guidance of BetterPhotoJim whom is a wonderful mentor to photographers of every level.

Photography is my passion. In addition to photography, I am always learning new ways to better manage my personal, home and work life. I struggle with time management and home organization, part of my feeling overwhelmed in my own journey through ADD. I am also a mom to children with ADD and ADHD, so I am constantly trying new ideas to better organize and de-clutter my home.

As I try new products and ideas I am finding things that work well, things that cause more work, and things I tried but realized defeated what I was trying to accomplish in the first place. The key to your own personal success is to listen carefully to yourself, analyzing your learning curve (meaning how you best learn something new). Then use that information to excel at your strengths and how to improve the areas you identify there is a knowledge deficit.

Regardless, you do not have to travel the path alone, feel free to share in our Attention Deficit Disorder free forum your favorite de-cluttering or time management tip with everyone. Do not hesitate to ask for help in areas you are in need of direction. Simply understand ADD people are strongly opinionated and we must all respect each other’s personal opinions.
