Make a Website Logo with Adobe Photoshop CS2 - 2

Horizontal Type Tool Move Tool
Step 3. Add text. We are ready to add the text using the Horizontal Type Tool. In the example, I used the name of a factitious therapist and factitious tag lines. You will want to use your own company name and tag lines. Click on the Horizontal Type Tool and set the Options bar to the following. You may want to use different settings to suit your design needs.

Font Family: Verdana
Font Style: Bold Italic
Font Size: 30 pt
Anti-aliasing: Sharp
Alignment: Centered
Color: Click on the color swatch of your choice

We will add the first line of text just below the design. Click and drag your mouse pointer from the left edge to the right edge of the logo. This will create a text box the same width as the logo and, because we have the Alignment set to Centered, the text will automatically be centered on the logo. Type your company name into the text box. To finalize the text, click on the check mark on the Options bar.

You can use the Move Tool to reposition the text if needed. Set the Font Size to 18 pt and repeat this step for the tag line(s).

Step 4. Flatten the image. In the Layers Palette, you will notice that each line of text has been automatically placed on it's own layer. Now that the design and text are completed, we don't need the checked background as a grid. Let's set the background color of the logo to the default white. From the Menu bar, click Layer > Flatten Image.

Step 5. Add border. The logo looks OK but it will show up better on the webpage if it has a subtle border. Photoshop has an easy method for adding a border. From the Menu bar, click Select > All to make the entire logo an active area. Now click Select > Modify > Border to open the Border Selection dialog box. Set the Width to 1 pixels and click OK. Finally, click Edit > Stroke to open the Stroke dialog box. Set the following values and click OK.

Stroke--
Width: 1 px
Color: Your choice
Location--
Inside
Blending--
Mode: Nornal
Opacity: 100%

Click Select > Deselect and you're done. Save the logo for the web.
