In this one hour and 40 minutes course entitled iMovie The Complete Guide to iMovie: Beginner to Expert, Alli Barlett does a good job of covering all of iMovie's features. She also includes two downloads so that you can follow along with her.

Barlett begins with an introduction to what is covered in the course and her experience as a professional video editor. Getting down to the basics, Barlett covers how to download and install iMovie on your Mac.

Next, she gives you a tour of the iMovie user interface and shows how to setup a new project. Barlett discusses the difference between the Media bin, Events and the iMovie Library.

Now it's time to customize your video. Barlett covers how to choose a preset background for your project. She adds an animated map and shows how to change the locations on the map for the animation.

Titles are an important part of your video project. Barlett covers how to preview the presets, add a title to the timeline and customize titles by changing the font, size, alignment, color and drop shadow.

After learning how to import videos to the timeline, Barlett discusses how to preview and customize the transitions between videos.

Now it's time for adding effects and iMovie has many effects from which to choose. Barlett begins with the basics, including color correction, cropping, stabilizing, speed controls, overlays and green screen.

Digging in deeper, Barlett ties everything together with a demo project. She demonstrates how to edit using the timeline, mixing talking head video and audio, background footage and music, and adding video and audio transitions in the demo project. She also demonstrates how to add lower thirds and sync audio to video. Finally she exports the project.
