Telling the Story of Barack Obama

History has been made and Barack Obama has been elected President of the United States. This is indeed a historic time in the history of this nation and like all great moments in history, many writers have jumped at the chance to record this historic time in our lives. There is much excitement surrounding the election of Barack Obama and if you are interested in finding more about the president-elect there are a number of books to suit your needs. One such book of interest is Life magazine’s “The American Journey of Barack Obama”

“The American Journey of Barack Obama” produced by Life Magazine gives us a look into the journey of the man who would one day make history. When the world first encountered Barack Obama, many knew from the outset that he was unlike anyone else. As Americans got to know this Illinois senator, the uniqueness of his story captured many. As many know by now, Barack Obama is the son of a man from Kenya and a woman from Kansas. He was raised in Hawaii and Indonesia and received an excellent education at Harvard Law, where he met his wife Michelle, and Columbia University.

Review at Harvard, it had become clear that this man was an unusual and unique example of the American Dream that at this point in history appears to be sadly deferred considering the tough times the country is now facing.

“The American Journey of Barack Obama” tells the story of the President-Elect from his childhood, his teen years, his time at Harvard, when he worked as an activist in Chicago, all the way up to his acceptance speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

The book tells the almost cinematic story of his meteoric rise in words and pictures, some of which have been rarely seen. The book includes a narrative biography along with a forward by Senator Ted Kennedy. There are also original writings from such writers as Charles Johnson, Andrei Condrescu, Mellisa Fay Greene, Richard Norton Smith, Fay Weldon, Bob Green and many others The writer weigh in on the different aspects that make up Barack Obama. We discover who he is as a man, how he is different and perhaps most importantly does the rise of this leader mean that this is still a country where anything is possible and the sky is the limit.

Those who read this story will not only learn about the 44th President of the United States, but the story in itself will have the readers seeing that this is not just the story of a president in the making but it is also a very human and very American Story.
