Walkout on HBO

Walkout is an HBO movie out a group of East L.A. High School students who decide to make a difference in their schools and their education. It is based on a true story of Mexican-American Paula Crisostomo back in 1968. Paula played by Alexa Vega starts with a survey of students, others join her and they come together and try going through channels to make a change. When the doors are shut in their faces, they join a group of student activist and stage a walkout of the five high schools.

The young actors are moving as they face discrimination and the typical reaction of the 60's police, beatings and peacefully move for change.

The movie is well worth watching. It shows us a look back at history and what we sometimes need to do to make a change for the better of all of humanity. Equality of education is important for all of us no matter what ethnic group we belong to.

Catch Walkout on HBO.
