California Family Resource Association First Annual Policy Conference

The California Family Resource Association (CFRA) is a new statewide membership association of organizations and individuals that serve children and families. It was founded in 2005 with this being the first Annual Policy Conference.

It will take place at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel, 1230 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. This will be April 27 and 28, 2006. The phone number is (916) 447-1700. The reservation number for Sheraton is 1-800-325-2525. In order to receive the $165 room rate you need to mention the California Family Resource Association.

Their policy priorities include - child welfare, mental health, family economic success and school readiness. CFRA is open to organizations, practitioners, consultants, non-profits, parents and family members. The fee structure starts at $25 for family members or students to become members. For individuals who are practitioners and/or professionals the membership fee is $100. A Government Institution is $250 with budgets determining the fee for organizations.

The launch of the new statewide membership organization in California is dedicated to working with all to help fight for the policy changes that will make resources and support available to families before a crisis occurs. This will also strengthen the network of organizations and practitioners that help families thrive and succeed.

Members of CFRA pay $125 for the conference with non-members paying $200. Click here for Registration. The site address for CFRA is www.californiafamilyresource.org

The site mentions their core functions as public policy, capacity building and networking. For networking this sounds really promising, " Developing community and statewide networks that link people, resources and information"

It is always good to hear of new groups that are committed to helping families by working with them and the organizations for the good of everyone.
