Our model in these pictures has hair that is very thick and very coarse. To make her hair easier to style and to keep a smaller silhouette, she chose a very short haircut. It will dry fast and be easy to style.

Since her hair is so thick, texturizing was used to 'lighten' it. Texturizing is a method of removing the bulk in a hairstyle. It creates shorter hairs throughout the hair cut. This creates space in between the strands giving the style an airy look. Although the style is very short, the texturizing causes it to be fringy all around the perimeter so that it has a soft feminine fringe. In hair cuts this short soft fringe helps to avoid a masculine feeling.
Coarse hair requires shampoo and conditioner that are designed specifically for coarse hair. Choose products that have moisturizing, hydrating or smoothing qualities. These will soften the hair strands for maximum flexibility. The addition of a leave in conditioner adds more softness, shine and manageability. Nioxin Silk Elixir was used here.
Drying this style is easy using a blow dryer and fingers for a few minutes. After the hair is thoroughly dry, Nioxin Finishing Cream was applied to moisten, shine, and add separation between the strands.
To change the look of this hair cut, use hair wax such as Pureology Dry Shine. Place a small amount in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together and then run your fingers through your hair. Form the cut into a spikey style or push it to one side with a side part.
