Low Carb Irish Coffee Recipe

When it's a little cool out, or any time you want to add the luck of the Irish to your life, take the time to make yourself an Irish Coffee. Here's a low carb recipe for Irish Coffee to give a boost to your metabolism!

Irish coffee is a favorite drink of mine and is especially great for any Irish-themed events!

The Coffee
Brew your favorite coffee. I really suggest decaf - there are many health benefits to getting yourself weaned off of caffeine. Try mixing half and half for a while to help your body shake that addiction. Still, if you have to go with caffeine for now, that's fine.

The Presentation
Get ready a THICK glass mug - one that will withstand the heat of the coffee. If you don't have a glass mug, a regular one will do - but look into getting a glass mug for the next time around. Coffee cocktails and coffee drinks really look gorgeous in a glass mug. Just make sure it's meant to hold hot coffee! Thin glass can shatter if a hot liquid is poured into it.

The Recipe
It's time to start mixing! Start by putting 2 tablespoons of Irish whiskey into the mug. Next, measure in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar in the bottom of the glass. It's time for the hot stuff! Pour in the coffee over the whiskey. Stir it together with a long spoon.

The Topping
Get THICK heavy cream and daub it on top of the coffee. Don't stir this in! Let it float on top of your coffee drink. Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top if you have some. Enjoy!

If you use low carb brown sugar, you can make this for hardly any carbs at all. Check your brown sugar box to see how many you get per tablespoon of brown sugar. DO the same with your heavy cream - again, depending on what cream you are using, it'll vary the amount of carbs per daub. Add those two numbers together, and you know how many carbs you're getting per serving! Whiskey has zero carbs, and you can usually count coffee at about zero.

Enjoy this as a winter time treat, or as part of any Irish celebration! Slainte!
