Tip of the week - M before B and P.

M before B and P? What's that??

This is a Spanish spelling rule: If you have to write / type a word, and before a "p" or "b" there is a nasal sound (n, m), well, you can ask yourself: Which one should I write here, "m" or "n"?

The answer is "m".

Some examples to clarify this:

The word 'campo'. You can see here that before letter "p" I have written an "m", not an "n".
So, 'canpo' is wrong, and 'campo' has the right spelling.

Other examples:

-mb -mp
gamba amperio
ambiente imperio
ambos impropio
sombrero imprudente

So, remember: Before 'p' or 'b' NEVER write "n", BUT "m".
