Down through the years, from its beginnings in 1879-80, as it grew into a posh resort, built on the belief that its springs could bring health to young and old, Eureka Springs has grabbed the imagination of travelers from around the world. It has faced each new challenge and continued to grow. Flourishing during the transition to automobile travel, it is today a thriving, yet serene vacation destination.
To many, Eureka Springs is synonymous with romance. Whether you’re thinking wedding, honeymoon or anniversary, the lovely bed and breakfast inns of Eureka Springs are the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. There are also other, not quite traditional, accommodations. Here are just a few of your many choices when your destination is Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
If you’re looking for something totally unique, check out Eureka Springs Treehouses. Doesn’t that name say it all? And speaking of great names, how about Arsenic and Old Lace? Bed and Breakfast Inn, that is. You can stay in the Library Room, the Monet Room or, if a suite is what you prefer, choose the Tree-Top Suite. You’ll love their full breakfast, plus cookies when you need to nibble.
If you want something tried and true, consider the Mount Victoria Bed & Breakfast Inn, which was named the "The Most Romantic Inn in America 2007-2008" and has been featured in O Magazine. This inn is acclaimed for its gourmet breakfasts, served in the dining room, on the veranda or in your suite.
If you’re thinking about a special place for your next “just us girls” weekend, Eureka Springs offers some cozy and comfortable bed and breakfast retreats that can’t be beat. Beaver Lake Cottages, while not a true bed and breakfast, offers suites with coffee, juice and pastries and lakeside cottages with first morning breakfast and first night drinks and snacks. Their two bedroom cottages can easily accommodate four ladies in style.
When planning your trip, here are some things to consider:
- Be sure you understand reservation and refund policies.
- Ask if a minimum stay is required. Some inns have a two or three night minimum.
- Read the reviews before you choose. There are lots of sites that feature the thoughts of guests who have preceded you.
- Select an inn right on the trolley line, if getting around is an issue for you,
- Leave pets at home. This seems to be good advice for a bed and breakfast stay.
- Check to see if your inn of choice has a policy about children, if you are planning to take little ones along.
This overview is not meant to promote a particular inn, but to give you a window on the wide range of possibilities available. Since I've had to leave out so many great places, be sure to take a peek at a lot of inn websites and find the one that will be your perfect getaway in Eureka Springs.
