Red Onion Topping for Steak

Red Onion Topping for Steak

Serve warm, as a topping for your favorite grilled steak.

  • 3 medium size red onions, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 T. butter
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 T. balsamic vinegar
  • 2 T. honey
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Preparation -
Melt the butter in a large skillet. Saute over medium heat, just until the onions are tender . Whisk the red wine, vinegar, honey, and seasonings together in a small bowl. Stir the mixture into the cooked onions. Cook and stir for about one minute, or until the mixture is heated through. Serve warm with grilled steak.
