NCD Zeolite Study on Autism

Natural Cellular Defense (NCD)is a safe, natural inert mineral supplement that has been approved by BioMed IRB of San Diego, California for clinical trials to evaluate the benefits of adding NCD Zeolite to the diet of children who have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. "Natural Cellular Defense is purified clinoptilolite, a type of zeolite, suspended in solution. The zeolite is purified using a patented process and named NCD Zeolite™."

The study is recruiting 200 subjects between the ages of 24 months and 18 years of age. This will be divided into two groups for a period of ninety days. Those that take the placebo will then be tracked for another ninety days while taking the NCD Zeolite.

There are two sites approved for this study - Plano, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Study Criteria includes at least a two-month of history of taking a multi-vitamin/supplement, and to continue with during the study. Also no chelators for the month prior to the study. There should be no changes during the study period in diet, treatments, interventions and medications.

The excllusions include no genetic defect such as Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome or Tuberculosis. Also not less than 32 weeks gestation and no diagnosis of cerebral palsy.

Submission information for the study. This includes the child's name and birthdate as well as contact name, address and phone. Then a brief description of the diagnosis of child and treatment history.

What is Zeolite

The FDA has given the rating of G.R.A.S. for Zeolite. This means generally recognized as safe. The study details - " The purpose of this study is to assess whether activated liquid zeolite is effective in reducing behaviour disorder in autism spectrum disorder children. At the beginning of treatment, the dose of activated liquid zeolite is titrated, by gradual increase from 1 drop/day up to a maximum of 20 drops/day, based on therapeutic response, with decreases allowed in case of adverse reactions. Patients will be assessed over three months."

The site lists ten reasons to use activated Zeolite. I am interested in #9 for my son Matthew, " Because of its absorptive effects in the digestive system, activated zeolite has the tendency to stop diarrhea."

Once you have registered at the site you can set up a profile, write blogs, visit the forum and listen to the downloads regarding Zeolite. It is also mentioned that if you cannot wait for the study or are not accepted into the study, you can still purchase Zeolite through the company. This is for those who reside in the United States, Canada, Japan, China and Hong Kong. Other countries will have a handling charge.

They are planning on accepting applications in June 2006 for the study. You can also sign up to become a distributor of NCD Zeolite. The offer of the product at cost is for those who have autism or GI Tract Disorder.
