Edge of Danger

Hello, and welcome back! I've got only half a dozen or so July books left already, though you never know what might show up during the month. Today, though, I have three new releases to share with you.

Seduction of His Wife Seduction of His Wife (Pocket Star) by Janet Chapman is up first, with the not-dead Alex Knight returning home to Maine to find he's got a wife he didn't have when he left. Sarah Banks didn't realize when she agreed to the proxy marriage that she might actually have to deal with a husband, and that changes things a tad. I'm not a big fan of Ms. Chapman, but I will say I liked this better than her time-travel tales. I'm sure her fans will be thrilled with this one.

Scent of Roses Scent of Roses (Mira) by Kat Martin is next. Elizabeth Connor meets all sorts of people in need of help in her job as family counselor, but the ghost story is something new. It also brings her into contact with Zach Harcourt, whom she knew as a bad boy years ago. While the suspense is intriguing, this one felt a little lacking to me. It just took me a little while to figure out why: Elizabeth doesn't have to do any real, major changing throughout this story. Zach does make some changes in his life, but Elizabeth is just sort of along for the ride. Still, the story is interesting, with a little twist at the end. It just wasn't my favorite of Ms. Martin's many romances.

Edge of Danger Edge of Danger (Ballantine) by Cherry Adair kicks of a new trilogy for her featuring the Edge brothers. Gabriel Edge uses his unique abilities working for T-FLAC's paranormal unit, and he's been reluctant to use them on Dr. Eden Cahill in his latest assignment. Someone has stolen Eden's top-secret project, and Gabriel's charged with gaining her help in defeating or getting it back. Getting her cooperation won't be easy. Nor will convincing her of his abilities. This one is different (not a vampire in sight, thank goodness!), something readers of paranormal romances are always on the lookout for. That said, it took me a while to get into this one, to really buy into Gabriel and his skills. I liked it far better by the end than I did for about the first third of the story. Still, not a keeper for me. But if you're looking for something different and fast-paced, you may want to check this one out.

Until next time, happy reading!
