Natural Hair Products – Review of FHP Regenerator

I have been a hairdresser for many years and have used only products formulated for fairly instant results. Sampling all-natural hair care is very different and has been an education for me.

Regenerator is an all-natural hair product from Fitter Hair Products of the United Kingdom. It is designed to thicken fine hair, stop hair loss and even to possibly re-grow hair where the follicles are dormant. I was told that, through client feedback, they have found that Regenerator also addresses some scalp problems, such as dandruff, psoriasis, alopecia, and dry scalp.

Regenerator contains an interesting mix of ingredients that have been used for centuries in hair formulations. They consist of aged black rum, a purified castor oil, masticated fresh organic rosemary leaf, and protein extract from beef marrow.

I must admit that I was a little hesitant to use Regenerator for the first time. I don’t usually store my hair care products in the refrigerator but since this is an all-natural product, it requires refrigeration.

Opening the jar didn’t make me feel any more secure. The product has the texture of slightly oily, gritty clay. It was stiff when cold but as it warmed, it was soft enough to take a small amount work with it. The directions say to leave it on for 3-4 hours – not very appealing to me. However, the formulator, Anthony Fitter, informed me that if I placed the product in the microwave for 20 – 30 seconds, I could apply it to my scalp and hair, cover it with a plastic cap and process it for only 1 hour – still a long time in my ‘instant results’ life, but I followed the directions and then relaxed with a book to wait.

The time went quickly but I was anxious to shampoo my hair when the timing was complete. After the shampoo, my hair was a bit tangled – this is not unusual for my color-treated hair. I followed up with my regular cream conditioner and my hair felt silky.
When I dried my hair with the blow dryer, it turned out a little smoother than usual.
Mr. Fitter said that the benefits are a cumulative process, with improvement showing up over the course of 7 to 10 treatments.

My conclusion:
I confess, since I don’t have any of the maladies mentioned, I did not have the stamina to use the product for the entire course of treatments.
So, natural hair care enthusiasts: If you are looking for scalp and hair treatment in an all-natural way, Regenerator will be something that you want to try. And, when you do, let me know how it works for you. I would love to add your comments to this review.
