VH1's Celebrity Fit Club Readies For Fourth Season

As part of its "celebreality" programming, VH1 introduced the show "Celebrity Fit Club" three years ago. Featuring overweight celebrities, the show followed along with the cast for 100 days, showing their struggles and successes with dropping the weight.

Songstress Angie Stone is considered one of the predominent voices in the neo-soul movement. She had a #1 hit with the single "No More Rain" off her debut cd and she recently appeared on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical "Chicago."

Rapper Bone Crusher is by far the largest member of the cast, both in height (6'1") and size (424 lbs). The Atlanta-based rapper is part of Jermaine Dupri's hit roster on So So Def Records.

Carnie Wilson rose to fame as part of the vocal trip Wilson Philips, which had several hits in the 90s. She is also a daughter of Beach Boy founder Brian Wison. Carnie had gastric bypass surgery in 2003 to lose weight, but following the birth of her child in 2005, gained some weight back that she says she's had problems shedding.

The youngest of the cast, Tina Yothers began her acting career in television commercials at age three. Her most famous role was that of Jennifer Keaton, the youngest daughter in the television comedy "Family Ties."

Ted Lange rose to fame in the 70s as the ultra-smooth bartender Isaac Washington in the hit TV series "The Love Boat." He can currently be seen in Bud Light commercials, as well as various theater productions.

As Det. James Martinez, Nick Turturro starred on the long-running crime-drama "N.Y.P.D. Blue." Since then, he's had recurring roles on "Third Watch" and "Tremors."

Fans of the "Sopranos" know the Bronx-born Vincent Pastore as Salvatore "Big Pu**y" Bonpensiero on the smash HBO mobster series. He has also appeared as wiseguys in films such as Goodfellas and Shark Tale.

The final member of the cast is Erika Eleniak, who made her mark as one of the red-suited lifeguards on "Baywatch" in the early 90s.

In the debut episode, the celebs get to know each other and go for their weigh-ins and body-fat measurements. Then they meet the team of experts who will assist and monitor them for the next 100 days -- diet expert Dr. Ian Smith, psychologist Dr. Linda Papadopoulos, and fitness expert Drill Sergeant Harvey Walden IV.

I'm not usually one for reality shows -- especially with celebrities -- but I really enjoy this show because the participants are actually trying to better themselves. And as someone who has struggled with weight issues, I've actually found the show to be rather inspirational -- though I don't think I could handle Walden screaming in my face all the time.

If you want to see what the show is all about, tune in to VH1 Aug 6 at 9 p.m. (eastern) for the debut of season four. Of course, this being VH1, the episode will be repeated throughout the week -- check your listings. You can also talk about the show with fellow fans on our message boards.
