Your First Posting at Blogger.com - 2

Step 4. Add a link. The last thing we will do with this post is add a link to another webpage that contains more information related to your post. Place your cursor at the end of the text and click on the Link icon to open the Hyperlink Information dialog box. Use the Type drop-down menu to choose the type of hyperlink you wish to add. You will usually want to use either the http for a link to another webpage or the mailto for an email link. Since this link will take your readers to a webpage containing more information, set the type to http and add the URL address into the input box.

When the post is updated to reflect the addition of the link, you will notice that the title of the link is the URL address itself and the color of the link is the default blue. We want the title of the link to say "More Info" and lets change the color also. We can make the first change in the HTML source code. Click on the Edit HTML icon to see the HTML source code for this post. At the end, you will see the hyperlink code. Change the name of the code to "More Info".

<a href="http://www.bellaonline.com/ebooks/ebook125">http://www.bellaonline.com/ebooks/ebook125</a>

<a href="http://www.bellaonline.com/ebooks/ebook125">More Info</a>

At this point, the link is still in that default blue color. When you want a part of your post, such as a link, formatted differently from the rest of the post, the first step is to select the text you wish to change. Click on the Compose link to return to the Compose edit box and then select the link. Next, click on the Text Color icon to open the color picker. Click on the color of your choice and then click outside of the edit box to deselect the text. You will see the selected text change automatically.

Step 5. Preview and Post. You are ready to preview your post. Click on the Preview link. If you like what you see, click on the Publish Post button. When you get the confirmation message that your post has been added to your blog, click on the View Blog In a New Window link.

Congratulations! You are now officially a blogger.
