Midnight, Texas

Midnight, Texas is a supernatural television show on NBC. It's based on a book by the same name written by Charlaine Harris. (Harris also wrote the series that the popular television series, TrueBlood, was based off of).

The show starts by following psychic Manfred Bernardo. Manfred possess the ability to talk to the dead. He can also inhabit the body of the dead to learn information like how they died. Manfred has an established business but viewers soon learn that he owes a man named Hightower a lot of money. (We later learn that Hightower paid Manfred and his grandmother a large sum of money and in return Manfred was supposed to marry Hightower's daughter. However Manfred left the daughter at the alter and she subsequently committed suicide).

As a result, he goes on the run and on the advice of his dead grandmother, he ends up in Midnight, Texas. Once there, he meets an unlikely group that include a vampire, a witch, an angel, a half-demon and a were-tiger (who is also the town's preacher). Together, they bond and work together to fight of threats to the Midnight community.

Each challenge becomes more and more difficult. The group find and capture a local serial killer, fight off a band of evil vampires, catch a rouge supernatural being, and more. The series leads up the final few episodes where the veil between heaven and hell opens and threatens to kill everyone. A very powerful demon from Hell is after the town witch because she is a virgin and the team bands together in an attempt to save her and the rest of the world. The plan includes Manfred releasing a bunch of evil demons to inhabit his body so that they can help him defeat the Hell demon.

If you enjoy supernatural television shows and movies, this may be the show for you. The cast is very diverse and almost every main character has an opportunity to shine. There are even a few human characters scattered among the group.

Midnight, Texas comes on NBC. You can catch up on past episodes at NBC.com, YouTube, Amazon, or your local cable provider's On Demand.
