Little Children and Employee of the Month

Employee of the Month
Life spent working at the superstore aptly named “Super Club,” can be tedious and boring, especially for store employee Zack Bradley, a slacker who barely survives in the job he hates, and in his ten years of employment has never moved any higher than being a stock boy. Other employees find their niche, like Zack’s friend Vince, who has been Employee of the Month 10 years in a row, and has moved up in rank as head cashier at the store.

When Super Club employee Amy transfers to the store, Zack and Vince are both immediately smitten, but Zack doesn’t stand a chance since Amy only dates employees of month. This means that Vince is a shoo-in for a chance with the pretty new girl, but Zack isn’t ready to concede defeat. When he realizes that his charm alone won’t be enough to win Amy over, he begins to vie for the employee of the month title, competing directly against Vince.

“Employee of the Month” stars Dane Cook, Jessica Simpson, Dax Shepard, Efren Ramirez, Andy Dick, and Tim Bagely.

Little Children
Todd Field, director of “In the Bedroom,” now offers up a new film for contemplation of everyday life behind the scenes. Kate Winslet is Sarah Pierce, a single mom to Lucy, and a woman who refuses to accept her life as unsatisfying as it is. Patrick Wilson and Jennifer Connelly are Brad and Kathy Adamson, a young married couple who are content with their lives - well, Kathy is, anyway. Brad has felt disquieted for a long time and when he meets Sarah, they immediately understand each other and the attraction is instant.

While Sarah knows that being with Brad could finally make her happy, they must pursue their romance in secret. Kathy, however, is no fool. She knows that there is something between her husband and Sarah Pierce, but she doesn‘t know what. When she does discover the truth, the decision she makes will affect them all, especially the children.

This film boasts a wonderful cast of actors that I admire greatly, including Jennifer Connelly, who I loved best in “A Beautiful Mind”, and “Requiem for a Dream.” Patrick Wilson, who was simply amazing in the HBO mini-series “Angels In America” as the confused gay Morman man, and long overdue for an Oscar, Kate Winslet, who blew me away in “Hideous Kinky”. “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, and “Finding Neverland”.
