This is a quick and easy project which requires a very small amount of yarn to complete. If you have yarn left over from another project this is an excellent way to use it up. I used Vanna's Choice by Lion Brand Yarn, in Purple color number 147. If you are buying yarn for this project, I recommend this yarn highly, it is very soft and feels wonderful on your fingers as you work with it. I also used a size "J" or 10 crochet hook. If you tend to crochet tightly, you may want to use a larger crochet hook.

In the photo at right, the skirt is shown on my Gotz Precious Day doll, Julia, but it would fit any 18 inch American Girl type doll.

To begin, chain 32, join with a slip stitch in the first chain to form a ring. Chain 2 and turn.

Round 1 - All the stitches in this round are worked around the chain stitches. This gives the skirt a sort of waist band. Work 32 Single crochets in the ring. Chain 3 and turn

Round 2 - Double crochet in same stitch as first chain 3. *One double crochet in each of the next 3 single crochets, 2 double crochets in the next single crochet.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with slip stitch in top of first chain 3. Chain 3, turn.

Round 3 through 5 - One double crochet in each double crochet around. Join with a slip stitch to top of first chain 3, turn. At end of Round 5 only, chain 2 and turn.

Round 6 - Single crochet in each double crochet around. End off and weave in the end of the yarn. Enjoy!
