- Shampoo and condition your hair with products that add body.
- Apply firm hold styling foam or styling glaze and comb through your hair.
- Scrunch your hair dry
- Curl your hair all over, creating small cork-screw curls. If your hair is naturally curly and does this on its own, skip to the styling directions!
- Depending on how easily your hair curls:
- Curl small strands with a ¾ inch curling iron until every hair is curled. It helps to temporarily pin each curl so that it will not loosen while you are curling the others.
- Or, use lots of small hot rollers to curl all of your hair. You will have to borrow sets from friends to get enough small rollers.
- When all the curls are in and the hot rollers are cool, carefully remove the curlers (or pins)
- Start at the top, using your fingers. Pull the front back to create a cluster of curls on top of your head. Allow the ends of the curls to fall over the pins so that none of them show.
- Take individual strands from the sides, to meet the original cluster and pin each one.
- You may allow a strand of two to hang down here and there for a natural effect. (This can be done at the sides, in the back or in the front)
- Start taking strands from the back and pulling them (not tight) up to the top. Here, don’t worry about hiding the pins until you get to the last curls.
- Start with strands that are just below the top cluster.
- Work your way down, until all of the curls are pulled up and pinned into the updo.
- Arrange the curly ends so that they cover the pins and lay in soft curls.
- Spray with a flexible hold hairspray.
- Have a wonderful time!
