The Black Cadillacs Review

Taking folksy, heartfelt rock to a whole new level, The Black Cadillacs are a 6-piece rock and roll band that features two guitar players, a bassist, a drummer, a keyboardist and organist, and a stand-alone frontman. Hailing from Memphis, the Black Cadillacs bring an exciting blend of traditional Southern Rock n' Roll with a modern version of Garage Soul and R&B. They're refined yet raw, loud yet dynamic, and all the while staying smooth and soulful. Their live shows are packed with energy and always keep the crowd wanting more, and although The Black Cadillacs have been playing together for over five years, the best is still yet to come.

Founded as a band in 2008, The Black Cadillacs band members consist of Will Horton (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, and harmonica), Matthew Hyrka (lead guitar), Philip Anderson (bass guitar), John Phillips (rhythm guitar), Kevin Hyfantis (keyboards), and Adam Bonomo (drums). Although they are considered a young band, the group has found a winning formula of delivering heavy-hitting rock that is blended with piano and organ-inspired ballads which sounds much more senior and experienced than the band actually is. The six members have the ability to keep their musical pace uptempo and manage to always leave their listeners wanting more.

If you’re a fan of The Black Keys, The Rolling Stones, Jill Andrews, The Dirty Guv'nahs, and/or The Alabama Shakes, then you’re guaranteed to like The Black Cadillacs as well. The group has a diverse array of influences from classic bands like The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Pink Floyd to more modern bands like My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, and Jack White - and over the last three years the rockers have been working hard perfecting their sound and live performances to contend with their influencers. With their hard work and dedication, The Black Cadillacs have made a name for themselves in the region, and their second album, “Run”, was released under Young Giant Records on June 5th, 2012.

Although they are always sticking close to their Southern rock roots, The Black Cadillacs definitely aren't afraid to push the envelope. Their song "Classic Fool," from their most recent album release, eases the listener into the album and lights the fire of intrigue before sliding into the much heavier song called “Run Run” which sucks you deep into the album.

After simply one listen through any of The Black Cadillacs' music, it is clear that the members of the rock band are dedicated to their art and have taken to perfecting their sound with reckless abandon.
