This day originated in 2000 to celebrate adoption, provide positive adoption education, and find homes for waiting children. Many of this year's events are designed specifically for families finalizing in November. Many are public events. Others are private. While most events will take place on November 18, others will take place at other times throughout the month. This article will address events planned before November 18.
Stamford and Mashantucket are the places to be to celebrate adoption in Connecticut. The Stamford event will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Palace Theatre on November 12. The public is invited, with free admission for children. The First Annual Forever Families Gala is planned for November 3 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket. This fundraiser for a nonprofit adoption agency begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person, including food and entertainment.
Florida will host events in Sunrise, Clearwater, Dade City, and Tallahassee. The November 19 event in Sunrise is hosted by The South Florida Asian Group and begins with an 11:00 a.m. picnic at Welleby Park. The Sixth Judicial Circuit Court will be hosting an event in Dade City on November 13 and in Clearwater on November 15.
Indianapolis and Noblesville will host events in Indiana on November 10 and 4 respectively. The Adoption Expo in Noblesville, hosted by the adoption support group of White River Christian Church, will begin with a walk-a-thon at 8:00 a.m. The expo opens at 10:00 a.m. and will include a fund-raising hog roast at noon. The Central Indiana Heart Gallery will be open from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select North at the Pyramids in Indianapolis. This event will feature a photo gallery of children served by the Indiana Department of Child Services.
Prince George's Circuit Court in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, has a big celebration planned for November 15, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The Clark County Adoption Day Celebration in Las Vegas is tentatively scheduled for November 15.
New Hamspshire’s adoptive families will celebrate on November 13 in the Executive Council Chamber of the New Hampshire State House in Concord.
Camden, New Jersey, will be the site of adoption finalizations and a luncheon on November 17.
Residents of the great state of New York may celebrate adoption in NYC on November 13, or in Bath, Rochester, or Syracuse on November 17.
Shelby, North Carolina’s, Cleveland County Adoption Day will be held at the county courthouse on November 17, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
In North Dakota, Minot and Bismarck have celebrations planned for November 17.
Several adoptions will be finalized at the Columbus, Ohio, event on November 15.
Pennsylvania has lots of activities planned. Mark your calendar for November 11 (Philadelphia), 14 (Allentown), and 17 (Washington).
I have always heard that they do things big in Texas, and celebrating adoption is no exception. Events are planned throughout the entire month. Go to Longview on the 11, Conroe on the 14, Liberty on the 15, Angleton on the 16, Beaumont or Lubbock on the 17 for early celebrations.
Salt Lake City is dedicating November 17, all day long, to celebrating adoption!
