Truth is stranger than fiction. That explains why reality TV is sometimes far more dramatic than any scripted series. VH1’s The Flavor of Love is no exception. The network’s highest rated series came to its second season close last night, with Flavor Flav traveling to a private island in Placencia, Belize to choose between Deelishis and New York.

Deelishis (London Charles) was one of Flav’s favorites from the beginning of Season 2. Her laid-back but firm demeanor quickly earned her the respect of Flav and most of the other girls in the house. Her major competition was former friend Krazy (Heather Nevaeh Crawford), who was quickly exposed as a fake.

Halfway through the second season, Flav brought in a “special guest” to help him with judging. That special guest was none other than Season 1 castoff, New York (Tiffany Patterson). New York’s return guaranteed a healthy dose of drama, and even more so when Flav asked her to return to the house.

New York’s presence in the house caused countless amounts of drama, mostly intentionally masterminded by her. She vowed to remain in the house until the end, picking off the remaining girls, one by one. She insisted that Flav would not dump her for a second time, and was resolute in the belief that she would win his heart. However, the visit from her parents confirmed that her time with Flav would be once again short-lived. New York’s mother Michelle, was adamant that her daughter not enter into a relationship with Flav, and resorted to physical and verbal threats against him.

While on the island in Belize, Flav set aside two separate days to have one last date with both Deelishis and New York. His date with Deelishis was pleasant and romantic, while his date with New York was expectedly volatile. He even accused New York of acting like her crazed mother. In typical New York fashion, she cried, screamed and over-dramatized everything in the hopes of Flav choosing her.

In the final elimination, Flav told New York that he loved her, and had a history with her, but feared that he would be choosing her mother if he chose her. He assured Deelishis that he was not making a decision solely based on making good TV, so he told New York that her time was up, for the second season in a row. His choice earned him a fierce tongue lashing, New York style. After hurling many expletives and shedding many tears, New York was whisked away to leave the two new lovebirds, Deelishis and Flav, to enjoy their newfound affection in the island hideaway.
