Random Stripe Rug
Materials:
Various Knit rag scraps like old tee shirts
backing material of sturdy fabric like denim 18" by 24 inches
Directions:
Cut the knit rags into strips three inches wide by six inches long. This does not need to be exact. The strips will roll up into skinny tubes on their own. When you have a nice pile of "tubes" begin to stitch them to the backing.
This is done by locating the approximate Middle of a tube, and sewing it down to the backing either by hand or machine. Working in vertical rows, take another tube and place it above the last stitched, and sew it down. Proceed until one row is stitched. Smooth this row off to the side and out of the way of stitching. Do another row the same way butted up pretty tight to the last row. Move across the backing making row after row until the whole backing is covered by the what is now a three inch pile of knit rolls. It is sooo soft and cozy.
Enjoy!
