The holiday season is almost upon us, and it’s time to turn our thoughts to the people on our shopping list. Not to mention our own lists. We’ll be seeing some great releases this fall and winter designed to cater to us geeky scifi fans. In fact, we like to think of November as “Superman” month! This is because we’re getting some incredible DVDs for fans of this DC superhero. For the ultimate fix, check out this month’s amazing “Ultimate Collector’s Edition,” with all the movies and tons of extras on 14—count ‘em, 14 discs. And we must also admit we’re looking forward to seeing “Supergirl” again. Hey, the movie had its moments! And it’s not just the movies, either—offerings from the 1950s “Superman” series and “Lois and Clark” are coming out as well. Check out the entire list!

It’s time to get reacquainted with the space-age hipsters of “Mystery Science Theater,” with four discs’ worth of episodes from seasons 2, 5 and 8 (you get to see both Joel Hodgson and Mike Nelson hosting). Our human and robot pals make fun of “Godzilla vs. Megalon” and “The Giant Spider Invasion,” among others. It’s classic scifi TV comedy and worth every minute!
The Transformers - The Movie (20th Anniversary Special Edition)
Now that the Transformers are being given new life by way of a live-action film next year, it’s time to revisit the animated 1986 movie! I don’t know about you, but when I was 14 this was the one summer flick I wanted to see. I can even remember the date (August 14) and the fact that my sister and I were the only girls in the theater. The death of Optimus Prime is featured. It’s fantastic to see the Decepticons and Autobots go at it again.
