There is a lot to be said about playing group card games. First of all, it is just plain, old fashioned fun. Many people are so busy with work and trying to get ahead, or just stay on top of things, that they fail to make time to have fun.
Getting together with friends and family on a regular or semi-regular basis helps make a work-life balance that is always necessary. It doesn't have to be once a week. It could be every two weeks, or even once a month.
My parents used to get together with friends once a week. They would play cards and make pizza. Every week, they would always try a different pizza. The junior set (the kids) got used to homemade pizza once a week. If making pizza is not something you fancy, try making something else.
Perhaps you would like to get together and have someone read about and learn a new group card game. They could introduce it to the group so things wouldn't get stale. It might be a game just for fun, or a game where strategy counts. You would be learning new things which always helps boost your mental awareness. If you do well, it could also help boost your ego.
When you play card games with others in teams, this also helps you learn the concept of "teamwork". That is a word most companies would like you to know and act upon. Among friends and family, this concept of teamwork should be enjoyed. It also helps make it easier to do on the job as you are getting practice.
You will learn to tolerate that other people do not learn or play the same way as yourself. Adjusting a little to other people is not a bad skill to learn for life in general. Besides being at work, there is a whole world to learn to live in. Agreed, it would be nice some times to be the only one on the road or in stores, but it is not the case.
Being alone and playing solitaire is a nice pastime and has many advantages. If you are prone to totally shut out the world and be alone most of your waking hours; is that what you really want? If not, just invite a few friends over and try to get a card/gaming club started. The worst that can happen is that you put some fun into your life.
