Lashes come in singles or in strips. Prices range from low to high, so most women can find lashes within their budget. Popular brands include Ardell, Andrea and MAC, but there are several other brands to choose from. They are available at many drug stores, department stores, cosmetics stores, or online.
Some false lashes come with a small container of eyelash glue to apply the lashes. There are also several adhesives available on the market. DUO remains a popular brand. It comes in black or a white that becomes transparent when dried. Many lash glues contain latex, which is problematic for those with allergies to the substance. For those with allergies, choose a product like DUOŽ Brush On Striplash Adhesive or DUOŽ Individual Lash Adhesive, neither of which contain latex.
Applying the Lashes
- Apply mascara to your natural lashes, if desired.
- When using lash strips, check to make sure they fit properly. Be sure to use care when handling the strips so that they do not become damaged. Place the strip on the lash line. If the strip extends past your natural lash line, trim the excess from the outside of the strip.
- Carefully apply a thin strip of glue to the lash strip. Never apply lash glue directly on the lash line or anywhere in the eye area. Avoid using too much glue.
- Using fingers or a pair of tweezers, position the lashes over the center of the base of the lash line. Gently press the lashes into place. To secure them, use the handle of a thin eyeliner brush or the top end of a pair of tweezers. Dont use anything with sharp edges that might harm the eye.
If properly cared for, false lashes may be used several times. Remove them gently by pinching the outside lashes between fingers and gently pulling inward, toward the inner eye. Glue can be removed by simply pulling it off. Always handle lash strips carefully so they can be re-used.
Though false lashes can be tricky to apply at first, they offer the opportunity to create many different looks. They also help women who want longer, fuller lashes. And with a little practice, applying them becomes easier.
