Dierks Bentley Ė Long Trip Alone

Itís been a busy year for Dierks Bentley! He got married, became a member of the Grand Old Opry and released a new CD called ďLong Trip AloneĒ. Somehow I donít think this artist is going to be taking a trip alone anytime soon.

In his third release Dierks makes it clear he is here to stay with strong vocals and song writing abilities. He has co-written every song on this CD and it shows in the way he comes across in the music. Itís a journey from the first track to the last one, one that you wonít want to end anytime soon.

The first single released Every Mile a Memory has shot up the charts and tells the story of a man on the road with just his memories to keep him company, heís missing his girl and everything reminds him of her.

Canít Live It Down talks about living life to its fullest and not settling for second best. He sings about making money and blowing it not being a big thing, he can just make more, wasting time on the other time is something he doesnít want to do.

Long Trip Alone is ballad that you can just imagine Dierks singing to his wife, Cassidy. He talks about resting under her smile for a little while, that life is too short to take the trip all alone is just too much.

That Donít Make It Easy Loving Me talks about things that happen on the road and how he wonít do anything to make his woman leave him. He isnít going to fall victim to the pitfalls that happen to others that travel the road.

Soon As You Can talks about a man getting back to the woman that he wants to spend the rest of his life with as fast as he can. ďWhen a man wants to be with a woman, there ainít no way of getting there too fastĒ is one of my favorite lines on the entire CD. My husband spends a lot of time out of town and I know he feels this way, so this song speaks to both him and I.

Trying to Stop Your Leaving talks about a man trying to get back home to stop his girl from leaving. He knows if he doesnít get there before she leaves, there isnít anything he can do. Trying to stop her leaving is like throwing pebbles into the Rio Grande is how he feels, ďthe train is running, the river is running, the pain is comingĒ is a good line in the song describing how he feels.

Hope For Me Yet talks about a womanís love giving a man hope that he could be a better man.

The Heaven Iím Headed To talks about Heaven being open to everyone that finds ďamazing graceĒ, that it isnít just for certain people.

Free And Easy Down The Road I Go has a great beat and talks about the enjoyment of heading out and listening to the music on the radio, the sun shining down and the freedom it brings.

Band of Brothers talks about the musicians that hit the road in their buses keeping the country music cause going. It tells about the beginnings when you play for tips and bar bills, nothing is handed to these guys, they work hard to get where they are today.

Prodigal Sonís Prayer features The Grascals and adds a bluegrass feel to this track that is a change of pace for the CD. Dierks definitely could put out a bluegrass album, he has the talent for it based on this song.

I give this latest release from Dierks a big thumbs up! If you didnít catch his Modern Day Drifter CD, you need to pick this one up, it will definitely make you a fan of his.
