Cutting the Cord - Netflix is a Viable Option

Many consumers are tired of the ever increasing television bill or complain that the same shows come on time after time. If you are one of these people, here are a few things about Netflix to consider.

*Netflix - Netflix started out as a smaller streaming service and mail-order DVD service however they have made substantial progress in building their online library and are now a major contender in the program streaming market. In addition to adding new content quickly, Netflix has tons and tons or original programming. This programming includes movies, television series, and comedy specials. Big name actors like Will Smith and Will Ferrell have partnered to create Netflix-specific movies. Wildly popular series such as Orange is the New Black and Stranger Things have proven to be a big hit and Dave Chappelle is just one of the comedic superstars to release Netflix-exclusive comedy specials. One of the things that a lot of people do is try out a new series and then binge watch that series from start to finish.

Netflix currently offers a free 30 day trial. After the trial you can choose from Basic, Standard, or Premium pricing.

--Basic is $7.99/month and it includes unlimited standard definition access on one device. You can watch on your television, smartphone, or tablet.

--Standard is $9.99/month and it includes unlimited high definition access on two devices. You can watch on your television, smartphone, or tablet.

--Premium is $11.99/month and it includes unlimted ultra high definition access on up to four devices.

**HD and Ultra HD availability subject to your Internet service and device capabilities. Not all content available in HD or Ultra HD.

To be eligible for the free 30 day trial, you have to enter your credit card information or link your Paypal account however Netflix does not charge your card until your 30 days is up and they will email you three days before your free trial is up. In addition, there is no contract so you can cancel at any time. If you don't like providing your information over the telephone you can call 1-866-579-7172.

If you aren't big on streaming television, Netflix also offers a DVD option. There are three pricing tiers as well. All packages include no late fees and free 2-day shipping. This plan also includes a 30 day free trial.

*Starter - $4.99/month. You can rent 1 DVD at a time and up to 2 DVDs a month.

*Standard - $7.99/month. You can rent 1 DVD at a time with an unlimited number of DVD rentals for the month.

*Premier - $11.99/month. You can rent 2 DVDs at a time with an unlimited number of DVD rentals for the month.

No matter which option you choose, cost-wise they look very attractive compared to an ever increasing cable bill. Or, you may be like many people who scale back on their cable TV services to save money but subscribe to a Netflix package as well.
